Since this was my first Korean Holiday, I decided to climb a mountain ...roughly 6Km!! Yes, I , a person who never walks anywhere, climbed a mountain. And yes, I was in shock after it but it was worth it!
So we took the Sky Walk(course 8) bukhanson dulegik track which is designed for beginners. It was amazing. It plateaus into a small town towards the base , then it goes back up. On my journey, of course, I got stared at but a nice Korean family said "hi" to me in English and an ajumma said " hi " in Korean. So I felt really welcomed. Of course, the ajumma made me look like a weak, unhealthy, fat American but elderly Korean people are extremely fit. So, it's an unfair comparison. Most of them were actually hiking up to the peak of the mountain.
While on the trek, I couldn't help but mediate with God. At first my legs wanted to give out but after awhile they adjusted. I was able to cope and my legs seemed to become stronger with every step I took. Though, I still couldn't keep up with my Korean comrades, I was able to keep a pretty good pace. On my journey, it occurred to me that God was like that feeling. When I first started out, I was weak and could not handle the rocky, slippery road. In fact, I was not even equipped properly as I was wearing New Balance walking shoes and jeans instead of hiking shoes and pants. But God used what he gave me to help me along own journey. He strengthened me when I was feeling weak, and made me stronger through my trials. When I was given a break, I used it to my advantage and didn't waste it being lazy but instead, I used it to prepare for what lied ahead. For me, this wasn't just any mountain climbing adventure, it was a way to experience God in his creation.
